Short description of PMTs from AVI-Moldova

HUMAN   RIGHTS  PMT:

The aim of the group: to increase the understanding of the human rights importance among young people.

Activities done up to now:
1. Human Rights Workshop in August 2006 (one day, 9 participants)
2. Working on the project “Drawing Children Rights”

Current and up-coming activities:
“Human Rights on the Bicycles”  Workcamp

Partners for the workcamp: School councils, local youth NGOs, local and national youth newsapapers.
Participants: 10 volunteers (5 international + 5 local)
Period: 3 weeks in the summer of 2007.

First week: 10 volunteers are all together thinking of how will they find bicycles and what exactly will they do in the villages.
Second week: 10 volunteers will divide in 5 groups, consisting of one local volunteer and an international one. The groups will go in 5 different villages of Moldova, and together with local partners, wearing T-shirts with Human Rights, and riding bicycles, they will promote a Human Rights.
Third week: Running the human rights seminar in tjose 5 villages of Moldova. 

SOCIAL  INCLUSION  PMT:

The aim of the group: helping children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to integrate into society (socially disadvantaged, minorities).

Activities done up to now:
1. International Workcamp “Together with us” in the “Center for children” from Edinet.
2. Photo Exhibition of the contest “I am a volunteer”.

Current and up-coming activities:
-Organizing a Winter-Camp in the “Center for Children” from Edinet in January 2007.
-Preparing the workcamp “Children’s Beach”

Short description of the workcamp "Children's Beach":
During that workcamp, a beach will be created, in a village near river Nistru, for summer holidays of disabled children.

Work: Cleaning up the region, collecting the garbage, cleaning the water, planting trees, bringing sand, building benches, and painting the walls.

RACISM  AND  XENOPHOBIA  PMT:

The aim of the group: to organize activities for promoting tolerance

Activities done up to now: No activities up to now besides meetings, and participation at a press-conference of the campaign “All different – all equal”.

Up-coming activity: “Tolerance Street Theatre” (TST workcamp)

Short description of the TST:
as a basic activity of the workcamp will be the presentation of a theatre play in parks of Chisinau.

A concrete idea for the scenario doesn’t exist yet, but there is an idea to combine dance with musical sound effects. The play will be non-verbal, the message will be transmitted through mimicry and gestures.

Place: The show will be repeated during 10 days, 4 times a day, in different places in the centre of the town.

Accommodation: volunteers will live in a hostel of a theatral faculty.

Continuity of the workcamp: The Racism PMT intends to write a project proposal for running tolerance theatre shows in schools, during breaks.
