Quarter Report 2006
Quarter Report 2007

By Elena Ichizli and Tatiana Luchianic, AVI-Moldova.

Short Summary of the Project

Even if a half a year already passed, it is obvious that the group is not yet formed, and we still have to work more for group’s edification.

What we still have now is only separated volunteers and they don’t really know how to behave as a PMT. Also, because of the activities run within YTNF project, new volunteers are coming and getting involved. These volunteers need support. That’s why AVI-Moldova is organizing group forming and Capacity Building Meetings for PMTs.

At the middle of the first month of the this quarter, the project coordinator Natalia Nicula has been replaced with Elena Ichizli and a new Steering Group member was elected: Cristina Gutu. These changes provoked a short break in the project process.

The goal we worked for, during this quarter (and we keep it for the next one) is to invest as much as possible in team-building of PMTs. We try to form them as good and efficient leaders in Project Management, with good organizational skills. These young people will become key-persons for a sustainable development. The project coordinator is the one who listens to them, and helps in writing projects. In this way, PMTs are getting more involved in the non-governmental sector were they are free to act.

The last three month for YTNF project in Moldova, produced a big and essential change in the PMT’s attitude. They feel now more responsible for that project. If in the first quarter, PMTs waited for the Regional Manager’s suggestions, now they feel fully responsible for the organization of meetings and initiative comes often from their side.

That’s the biggest goal of YTNF project, to make young people aware that they should not only receive and execute orders, but also start something with their own innovativeness, abilities and initiative. How was the change produced? The first important step was the knowledge multipliers have got after 2 seminars (Project Management, Fundraising Strategies). Their motivation increased because of intercultural exchange, especially the one from EuroIdea festival. The second factor is group leaders, which are stimulating the others to contribute with ideas.

List the activities/events that took place in this quarter

April
"Project Management Seminar” Minsk. From Moldova have participated four persons: After the seminar, three of them got more involved in YTNF (spend more time for the projects writing process). They already have concrete ideas, and are working on their project proposals for founders. One of the ideas is to create an “Intercultural Youth Theatre for Tolerance” for four eastern countries involved in the YTNF project. Another idea is to organize an innovative festival, called “Free Bird”, which will be promoting the freedom of expression and human rights.

May
A YTNF multiplier, has participated in an international conference”Youth from Black Sea region against islamophobia, discrimination and fanaticism. After the seminar, she organized a workshop for all PMTs about islamophobia and racism issue. See the minutes of the workshop on the website.

On 28th of May a strategically meeting took place, where YTNF volunteers decided to start one more PMT: Racism and Xenophobia. Due to the fact that we received the start-up capital for 3 PMTs, it was decided to integrate the AIDS prevention PMT with Social Inclusion, and to give the chance to Racism and Xenophobia PMT start working.

A web-team was created from 3 representatives of each PMT, who are responsible for refreshment of information on the website, together with Regional Manager.

June
The webpage was finished, and a Help made, which was presented at the Fundraising Seminar for all project partners. From 19th of June till 2nd of July the Social Inclusion PMT organized the workcamp for disabled children together with a German EVS volunteer. During two weeks they managed to do activities in order to facilitate their integration. If you want to find more details about this workcamp, you can access the webpage and see rubrics “Activities”.

Also in june, together with all PMT volunteers, ware fixed the dates of separated monthly meetings for each PMT, in order to have specific discussions according to PMTs profile. Also, one common meeting at the end of each month will take place for facilitating the circulation of information between all the volunteers involved in this project.

Four active members have participated at the Fundraising seminar. Me, as a participant at this seminar, feel more comfortable in the Fundraising World thanks to the knowledge I’ve got there. For more details, see the webpage: Last activities.

The current situation of the PMTs.

  1. Human Rights: 10 persons.
Three new members came to that PMT, and they got actively involved, and contributed with new ideas.
One of those ideas was to divide their responsibilities for organization of an Human Rishts Campaign: “Drawings on note-books”. One group went to the editing house and negotiated with the prices, another one wrote a request letter for potential donors. The list of donors we will visit for asking support in project‘s implementation is going to be fixed during the common meeting of PMTs from 27th July.
  2. Racism and Xenophobia: 5 persons.
The group decided to focus in June July on collecting information, materials about racism, in order to make a good poster on this, which will be distributed in schools, lyceum in 4 towns of Moldova. On 19th of July 4 PMT members, have participated in an press-conference of the project “All equal – all diferent”.
  3. Social Inclusion of minorities and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds: 9 persons.
Social Inclusion PMT multipliers participated as animators in the workcamp for disabled children from Edinet Center. Their personal contribution was that they paid their travel costs by thir own (418 km). Also they brought materials for some of the workshops: ghips for handicraft workshop, some colored paper.

Also some members of Social Inclusion, together with Human Rights were involved in the organization of an AVI-photo-exhibition. In this way, they improved their group-leadership skills and gained experience in unfolding an certain activity. The main goal of the exhibition was to promote our activities, in order to find partners. Therefore Radio Sîngera agreed to broadcast news about YTNF.

Collaboration with other local organizations

We collaborate with “People for People NGO” from Edineţ, Radio-Singera, „Casa Providentei” Social Center and we also intend a future partnership with NATIONAL Youth Council from Moldova in the frames of the program : “All different, all equal”.

Publicity of the project’s activities

In Moldova the most active young volunteers and youth organizations are subscribed to an national youth electronic network. This network has 730 members. AVI-Moldova is also subscribed and we are once in two weeks posting information about events we do in this network. Because of it, more and more new volunteers are getting interested.

The last event developed by AVI was the photo exhibition , where a local Radio “RADIO-Singera” agreed to broadcast radio transmissions about YTNF activities once per months, starting with 1 of August.

Also the national newspaper “FLUX” offered us the opportunity to inform the readers about the website.

The national TV Station “TVM”, during the news programme, made a short material about Edinet workcamp for disabled children, where participants shared their impresions.

Team Consolidation. HOW?

- Celebrating birthdays together.
- Reimbursement for an active Social Inclusion PMT member, for participating in a traveller worckcamp in Germany.

Future Plans:

The Racism PMT intend to elaborate a poster on racism, in order to spread it in September in schools, lyceums and universities.
