Religious Tolerance Seminar

Although Moldova is steadily, yet too slowly, advancing in strengthening the awareness of such social problems as human rights infringements, xenophobia, racism, and gender stratification, very little focus has been on promoting religious lenience. Therefore, Association of International Volunteering in Moldova (AVI-MD) invites you to a one day seminar dedicated to promoting religious tolerance.

Basic Info

Since it is hard to tolerate what is unknown, the structure of the seminar will be composed of five academic-like lectures and one hour of yoga, whose purpose is to help you create an open-mindedness and understanding to the religious diversity of our world. The five lectures will be focusing on the following religions:

- Baha’i
- Shinto
- Confucianism
- Jainism
- Hinduism

They will cover the history, texts, philosophies, practices, beliefs, and arts. The approximate time for each lecture will be one hour, so you can expect that the seminar will last for about 6-7 hours.

The lectures will be presented in English; therefore, mastery of English is a must.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 27. The details about the location and the exact time will be sent later to applicants.

Requirements

Because we can host only a limited number of people at this event, there will be a selection process. You are required to submit a short statement of purpose. It must not be long. One or two paragraphs will suffice. The essay should include the following:

Name, Surname
Contact Information (Email, phone)
Reasons for taking part in this seminar
Expectations from this seminar

The deadline for your submission will be June 25. The following day, June 26, you shall get an answer on whether you are admitted to this event or not. Please send all essays to: avi@avimd.org

From 19th - 27th July SCI-Germany will organize a Summer School on the subject "Anti-Semitism, Racism & Xenophobia in Germany & Russia - past & present" To view the daily program click here. Details...
