Dobre Razom Report Dobre Razom project was created in the framework of Youth Transcending New Frontiers in Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv from 27th of August to 9th of September with financial support of Jucker Mauderli foundation and SCI-Switzerland. Project started in Kiev with get-to-know each other, ice-breaking and team building activities for our group of 14 volunteers. Introductory part was combined with 2-days long training in racism matters, handled by Sven Rasch, trainer from the Human Rights Institute, Germany. The skilled trainer provided volunteers with valuable knowledge in the field of methods and methodology of human rights education, which helped participants in developing workshops for pupils. Most of people had no reach experience in the field of human rights and antiracism education, so they felt like having more time for training and thinking over the gained knowledge, because density of received information was quite high. Nevertheless training served as a intensive empowerment for conducting future activities of the project.
In the very beginning of the project group was divided in two parts, according to preferences of volunteers to work in eastern or western part of Ukraine. Division process was a little bit complicated for participants for reason that they didn't know a lot about features of radial Ukrainian cities, as well as group spirit was already built and were not sure how to split. But as soon as group was divided into subgroups, practical work started. In Kiev volunteers had time to prepare concept of future activities in Kharkiv and Lviv, present it, discuss and modify according to critics of the opposite subgroup.

After finishing of the training "Lviv" and "Kharkiv" groups travelled to their destination points. Main activities of Dobre Razom project were located in these cities. When arriving to the places, groups started more detailed planning of lessons in schools and gathered ideas for out school activities. Volunteers has got nice opportunity to look at their future pupils and see something about Ukrainian school during the Day of Knowledge celebration, which takes place at 1 st September.
Both groups had lessons in classes of pupils of 13-16 years age. For Lviv it was Linguistic Gymnasium ? 4, and in Kharkiv it was secondary school ? 154. Certainly, level of knowledge of foreign language differed between these schools very much, but it is not possible to say where work was more efficient and fruitful. For Lviv, classes were split in three groups with approximate amount of pupils 10-13 for each group and with two volunteers leading lessons. Level of English knowledge was good for younger pupils and advanced for elder ones. It was very interesting to communicate with them and learn some of their attitudes to different countries and people find out their stereotypes and try to deal with them. In Lviv we hardly met people with colour of skin other then white, so people are not used to seeing these people. For this reason they have lots of prejudices towards them, and it is especially easy to discover stereotypes when speaking to children.

In Kharkiv pupils had lower level of English knowledge, so it was extra challenge for non-Russian speaking volunteers to communicate with them. We had around 30 pupils in each of three classes that were divided into two groups of around 13 pupils. The main goal of lessons was breaking stereotypes, racism education and encouraging average children to study foreign language. We spoke to the children about their knowledge of racism, their attitude to people of other ethnicities, their experience in seeing acts of racism, tried to explore how not to go up the racism ladder. Hopefully what we did was not in vain and all those smart and energetic kids will change their attitude at least in some small ways. Anyways, we had a lot of fun teaching.
Except school activities, volunteers had information meetings with local nongovernmental organisations, learned history of Ukrainian nationalists' movement and their point of view on history of Ukraine. Also group in Kharkiv widely communicated with ethnical and religious minorities, because city is biggest students' city of Ukraine and has a lot of foreign students. We spoke about anti-Semitism problems to a representative of the synagogue.
One more way for learning about the attitude and moods between the East and West of Ukraine and monitoring it is poll application, designed by volunteers and spread in both cities. Making such kind of survey on racism and nationalism matters within the country allows making long-term research in the field of racism and intercultural tolerance.
We were lucky to have creative and interesting volunteers with plenty of ideas to realize. On the basis of their feedback it is possible to say that project was useful, nice and unusual experience for them; thing to be improved is to have more time for work in schools and realisation of other activities. During two weeks of Dobre Razom we collected package of peculiar ideas, which hopefully will serve as a basis for future continuation of the project, or developing new ones.
Dobre Razom project is over but our PMT is still in the mood for creative actions. Tonight (probably with the help of flying mushrooms) we drew cool chalk symbols on Kharkiv main square telling that every creature in this world is different and yet equal.
And even though some things end other things begin.
We'll miss you Galya!

Dobre razom is keeping on discovering features of local culture.
Today is the second day of work in a school, and it is so interesting to see kidz expressing their attitude to foreign people and countries.
Communicating with them, it is very obious to see how stereotypes are formed and how do they transform into xenophobia later. Details...
