5 local volunteers from Chernovtsy have joined the international group to work on the historic Jewish cemetery, and more local young people phone and make inquiries as result of information in the media and public action, which was organized yesterday, August 12th, by the volunteers jointly with local NGOs. During the public action, international volunteers and activists of local NGOs "Dopomoga lyudam", "Narodna dopomoga" and "Union of active youth" have put up information tent at Sobornaya square in the central part of the town, and were distributing information flyers about the cemetery, talking to people and inviting more volunteers to join the cleanup. „Preserve your part of history!” – this is the motto for a group of volunteers from Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Sweden, France, Australia and the USA, who came from August 7th to August 21st to Chernovtsy to work on Jewish cemetery on Zelena St. Chernovtsy are famous for its multiethnic community, which peacefully united different religions, languages and nations. Jewish community has played an important role in development of the town, and gave the world such famous workers of culture and art as poet Paul Celan, sculptor Bernhard, poet Rose Auslaender, singer Josef Schmidt and many others. On June 10th, more than 50 people, mostly youth, have joined YTNF film festival event in Lugansk. The program proposed films of the festivals organized by Goethhe-Institute jointly with Zukunftsfonds, “Gestures of reconciliation”, “All human beings are born free and equal”. As starter we had film from Estonia, by Margit Korbe, about difficult choice between family and gambling machine, is something well-known here as well. The story of Katsiaryna Kamockaya from Belarus, “Little Peter of great wood or good morning to everyone”, invited to see the war with eyes of a child, and how it is still possible to be human during the war. IVO “SVIT-Ukraine”, in cooperation with SCI Belarus and AVI Moldova, in the framework of “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” international project, are proud to present an international film festival, which takes place 22nd May till 27th June 2008 on the themes of human rights, combating racism, xenophobia and social exclusion. “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” film festival consists of series of film events, which will run parallel in Chisinau, Moldova, Minsk, Belarus, and also Kharkiv, Lugansk and Artemovsk, Ukraine. The goal of the festival is to draw attention of public, especially youth, to problems of racism and xenophobia, protection of human rights and social inclusion of vulnerable parts of society. Chernovtsy is a regional center in Western Ukraine, along with Lviv is considered to be cultural center of Western Ukraine. The city has rich history and cultural background (in different periods it was part of Turkish Empire, Austrian-Hungarian Empire and Romania, the city is called ‘little Vienna” or “European Alexandria” because of its rich cultural and historic backgrounds), and very multi-national community – according to population census in 2001 65 different nationalities are living in the city. May 17th is the Day of Europe in Donetsk. The title is due to the topic of the fair, which is dedicated to presentations of European countries, presentation of cultures, folk dances, national food, also possibility to learn about relationship between Ukraine and EU, Euro 2012 in Ukraine and Poland, and many other things. Dear friends, We are looking for participants for the Multiplier Training Course, which is organized in the framework of “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” project (YTNF, www.ytnf.org ). The latter is an exciting project aimed to promote innovative activities of young volunteers at grass-root level in three main fields:  human rights education  the struggle against racism and xenophobia  social inclusion of minorities and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds The project, which is supported financially by the Youth Program of the European Union, will last for three years, started in January 2006. Searching for 600 years old oak-tree We did not find it. We tried, but did not know the way (there even was a map), and we were close. But our other searches resulted with bigger success. We were searching for fresh ideas, experiences and inspiration how to improve long-term volunteer (LTV) and EVS (European Voluntary Service) exchanges in SCI through better prepared hosting projects for LTV during international training “Hosting projects – what we can do”, organized by LTEG working group of SCI and SVIT-Ukraine. The training gathered SCI activists and volunteers from Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Sweden, Moldova, Russia, Finland and Belarus in a small town of Svyatogorsk, Ukraine, March 17-23, 2008. Details...

We are looking for trainers for the Multiplier Training Course, which is organized in the framework of “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” project (YTNF, www.ytnf.org ). The training course is hosted by SVIT-Ukraine, and will take place in Svyatogorsk, Ukraine, July 7-13, 2008. We are looking for 2 motivated persons who can provide participants knowledge and skills related to the topics of the training course, make them familiar with what is project and how to develop a good project, place of the project in your organization, how to manage diverse resources in the project (time, people, financial), how to plan communication and team work in the project. YTNF partner organizations SVIT-Ukraine, AVI-Moldova, New Group Belarus and Siberian Creative Group (Russia) are preparing a film festival on such topics as protection of human rights, fight against racism and xenophobia, and social inclusion. The festival, having same name as the project - Youth Transcending New Frontiers - will take place in May in Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Siberia, and will consist of several non-profit film shows. The film shows will take place parallel in Ukraine – Kharkiv, Lugansk and Artemovsk; and also in Moldova, Belarus and Buryatia. The film festival is targeted at general public, with main focus on young people, and aims to raise awareness on such topics as human rights, racism and xenophobia, and social inclusion. Details...
