Results of Small Projects Competition for PMTs

Towards the end of 2007, the YTNF steering group created two new funds (Category A: small-scale grassroot projects and Category B: promoting international cooperation among PMTs) & subsequently launched a first call for project applications. Altogether a total of 8 applications were received by the deadline. Of those submitted, 2 were approved for funding, 3 were rejected and a further 3 were given the opportunity to be revised and resubmitted by the end of December, taking into account the critical remarks of the Jury.

The first two "winners" of the competition are:

a) "World Without Borders", a project submitted under Category A by the social inclusion & human rights PMTs from Ulan Ude (Awarded grant: 1500 Euros)

The project aims to train 20 rural youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, who will then go on to teach human rights to their peers in the villages where they originate from

b) "Anti-Racist Film Festival", submitted under Category B by the anti-racist PMT of SVIT-Ukraine (Awarded grant: 1790 Euros)

The project aims to raise awareness of the growing dangers of xenophobia and racism in the Ukraine, Moldova (and eventually Belarus) by watching films and discussing them, as well as by various street actions

The projects are scheduled to be completed in the period February-May 2008.

The Jury wishes to congratulate all PMTs on submitting interesting and innovative applications and, because of this, has been encouraged to launch a second call for funding which will be announced in due course.
