Work will hopefully commence in January 2007 to establish two new Coordinating Centres for the Promotion of Long-Term Volunteering(LTV) in Ukraine & Moldova under the aegis of SVIT and AVI. The main aim of the new Centres is to facilitate the creation of up to ten new volunteer posts for foreign volunteers in Moldova and Ukraine  by the end of 2008, as well as to train a pool of multiipliers in each country who will be responsible for implementing future LTV programs, also involving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. On 26th October it was announced that the German jury of the UN Decade on sustainable development has voted to designate SCI Germany as an "Official UN Decade Project". In October & November 10 new LTVs from Poland, Germany, Sweden, Slovakia & the Czech Republic are starting their 10-month voluntary service in Russia, Moldova and Ukraine in the frame of "Capacity Building Stage X", which is financially supported by the European Voluntary Service Programme of the EU. All the volunteers are being encouraged to actively participate in the PMT activities planned in each country. We are pleased to announce that today we received our first individual donation for our project. Two long-standing members of VIA Belgium (Els and Willy Dries) have kindly donated 100 Euros. Many thanks Willy and Els! The money will be used to help finance the new YTNF flyer being made by the PMTs of SVIT-Ukraine with the help of Marilou Ruiter of VIA-Netherlands (so we can also say this is a combined Benelux support of our project...!). SCI Germany is currently organizing two Summer Schools for PMT members from SCG, Siberia. The first was focused on the theme “working with minorities”.
