International workcamps are still one of the most popular & good value ways for people of all ages to travel, meet new friends, get deeply aquainted with different cultures, practice a foreign language and, last not least,  make a meaningful contribution to social development, international understanding and peace.  Most workcamps last 2-3 weeks and combine useful & interesting work (5-6 hours per day on average) with lively discussions, fun & games as well as excursions to places of local interest. Call for participants for a *Multiplier Training Course on "Peer education"*, which will be organized in the frame of the project "Youth Transcending New Frontiers". It will take place in *Buryatia, **Ulan-Ude* from *the 1st till 6th of May 2007. * The training course is hosted by Siberian Creative Group (scg@hotbox.ru) The course will be led by a professional trainer(s) and will focus on methods of educating peers (or how people can sensitize, motivate & teach other people of a similar age to become active as volunteers). The first international YTNF Feedback Seminar was held in snowbound Poznan, Poland from 23-29th January 2007 hosted by One World Association - SCI Poland. It brought together 28 participants from 12 different countries. The first three days were devoted to an intensive evaluation of the first year of the project and produced many interesting results and conclusions. One discovery was that altogether 24 different projects(!) had taken place in CIS-countries in the frame of our project, including workcamps, trainings, seminars, volunteer days, exhibitions and many other colourful activities. How sad, but strangely appropriate, that the end of 2006 should now be remembered most of all by a gruesome video depicting the violent death of Saddam? Three months before the outbreak of the war in Iraq one SCI volunteer wrote the following words: “I shall not support a Labour government whose Foreign Secretary continues his incessant war-mongering comments and lies on the issue of Iraq. Britain has nothing to gain from causing unpredictable suffering to the civilian population of Iraq or endangering the lives of our own soldiers, not to mention the damage that will be done to our country’s interests and image throughout the Muslim/Arabic world and beyond. The first International Feedback Seminar for YTNF will take place in Poznan, Poland between 23-28th January 2007. It will be attended by around 30 volunteers from Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Finnland & Poland. Besides evaluating the first year of the project, the seminar will elaborate an action plan for the coming year. There will also be opportunities for representatives of SCI branches to meet with volunteers of the project management teams, in order to discuss additional new projects & exchanges. Work will hopefully commence in January 2007 to establish two new Coordinating Centres for the Promotion of Long-Term Volunteering(LTV) in Ukraine & Moldova under the aegis of SVIT and AVI. The main aim of the new Centres is to facilitate the creation of up to ten new volunteer posts for foreign volunteers in Moldova and Ukraine  by the end of 2008, as well as to train a pool of multiipliers in each country who will be responsible for implementing future LTV programs, also involving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. On 26th October it was announced that the German jury of the UN Decade on sustainable development has voted to designate SCI Germany as an "Official UN Decade Project". The official presentation of the award will be held on 29th November during the third UN Round Table of the UN decade "Education for Sustainable Development". Details...
