Head of EU Youth Division visits AVI
AVI-Moldova had the privilege to receive a high-level delegation from the EU during the period 20-23 June 2007.
The delegation, composed of the Head of the Youth Division of the EU, Mr Philippe Cova, as well as
the responsible person for EVS exchanges, Ms Cecilia Lo Piparo Liljegren, made the field visit in order
to evaluate on-going EVS projects via talks with organisers, project hosts and current long-term volunteers.
They were also interested to see and investigate the results of YTNF.
Detailed discussions focused on subjects such as:
- the role of the host organization in running an EVS program
- the need for an EVS in a project
- the concrete results after an EVS leaves
- future EVS opportunities
- administrative issues
At the end of the visit, both AVI and the EU officials expressed their satisfaction at the mutually useful and rewarding nature of their talks.
The next international Steering Group meeting for YTNF will take place in Ukraine from 27-29th July 2007.
The meeting will assess the current stage of the project's development and discuss & plan future strategy for the rest of the year & beyond.
Any volunteer wishing to propose topics for the agenda of the meeting should contact their regional manager/steering group member or else write directly to the senior manager ( john.myers@sci-d.
