Forget Fists - Forge Voices!
The No-More-War team kindly invites you to our second topic based seminar:

No-More-War seminar "Forget fists, forge voices - the power of
nonviolence" from the 12th to 18th of November 2011 in Helmarshausen,
Germany

What are the topics?
1. How to orchestrate and organize peaceful, nonviolent demonstrations
and related public actions

2. How to build consensus within and between groups

3. How to deal with violence during demonstrations or related public actions

Why should we do something about that?
The goal of the seminar is to strengthen the voice of SCI for peace and
nonviolence. The recent uprisings called the Arab spring has made it
evident again, that there is a lot of power in demonstrations – but it
is not a key area of expertise for SCI. Therefore this training will
look at sharing experiences of different branches and also improve our
skills in these areas to help transform societies from within by making
public statements. Concerning issues we are facing today, and issues on
the rise (like sea level and global temperature), we will need a strong
and unified voice to help with nonviolent conflict transformations
within and between societies but also within SCI itself, to find
consensus on where to go without losing motivation and by that
volunteers in the process.

In that spirit, let us help people to forget fists and instead to forge
voices for peace!

Who can apply?
Engaged activists within SCI branches and partner organizations from
European Union, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine.

Financial stuff?
Travel reimbursement is up to 70% of your travel costs (we can reimburse
max. 300€ per participant). From the amount you would get reimbursed, we
deduct the participation fee (80€ for old Europe, 60€ for
new Europe and 50€ for others).

Sorry, what is No-More-War?
The No-More-War campaign within SCI (www.no-more-war.net) started last
year at the 90th anniversary of the organisation, to further and promote
nonviolent action within the organisations activities. This year, in the
wake of the people uprisings all over the globe for human rights and
political participation, we identified a lack of skills needed to both
understand and contribute in a pacifist way to this movement and
therefore are organizing this international English-speaking seminar in
Germany. In general, we are bringing branches and partners together, to
strengthen the nonviolent aspects of workcamps by having special camp
coordinator trainings, a No-More-War handbook, and a blog
(www.no-more-war.net) to spread informations, knowledge and tools for
nonviolence and antimilitarism.

Even more No-More-War?
Oh yes :D - SCI Germany will have its No-More-War themed autumn festival
weekend directly after the training at the same place - so if you want
to participate, contact SCI Germany directly - there is an additional
participation fee in this case.

How to apply?
So if you are interested, fill in the application form, send it to your
local SCI branch or SCI partner organisation and ask them to send it to
us via email (team@no-more-war.net) by the 5th of October 2011!
Remember, this is for us to get an impression, if you are who we are
looking for regarding this seminar and our goals, so write as much as
you think is necessary to convince us, without writing whole books

All the best,
Georg on behalve of the No-More-War team
