During 4-15 of August, AVI Moldova together with the Center for children fr
om Edinetz and, of course, with a great team of volunteers has organized a worckamp in the city of Edinetz.
During two weeks, children from disadvantaged families, children with disabilities and children who where just willing to spend their time near the international team of volunteers, have had the opportunity to discover new cultures, learn dances and songs, practice english and do many other activities.
After getting to know eachother, the volunteers every evening where setting down an interesting programme for the children which included: having breakfast and lunch together with the children, english lessons, art lessons (where everyone could draw, paint or play a "box" guitar), sport session at the stadium and, of course, the favourite activity - energizers and games. From the programme didn't miss the Treasure Hunt game, Chocolate Game or Njiam-njiam songs before meals... oh, and how can we forget about Macarena danse or The Orchestra playing and singing "Un Elefant".
After a full programme with the children, the volunteers were able to taste and even cook traditional moldavian food: mamaliga cu branza, sarmale and placinte. Nevertheless, walks to the lake or around the city where part of the leasure time programme :)
The most important thing achieved during the workcamp was organizing and holding a small Festival with the children, where they presented the songs and dances they've learned during the worckamp. It was amazing to see their smiling faces every day comming to the center and even more important - to see them comming back every morning in order to have the chance to participate at each activity from the workcamp.
Children need love, afection and to feel that they are a big and important part of the society. Let's never forget about it!
On August 20th, a group of 10 volunteers from Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Belgium, USA and Ukraine met in Kharkiv, in order to continue our investigation on racism in Ukraine. This year, the goal for the project is to go deeper in the problem, research situation in detail and compare with other countries, think of possible solutions. As a result, participants will make a short film of educational/documentary character, on racism and xenophobia in Ukraine.

During two weeks in August 2008, a group of twelve international volunteers and three to eleven local volunteers from Chernovtsy cleaned together the Jewish cemetery in ul. Zelena, Chernovtsy.
We worked all in all ten days from nine in the morning till two or three o ‘clock in the afternoon with around one hour lunch break.
The result of our work is a cleaned field section 33 and two rows of field section 34 that follows behind field section 33. The field section 33 is located behind the “ceremony hall” and the grave field of famous Jewish personalities of Chernovtsy.
We assume that we cleaned 2-3 % of the total area of the cemetery, a drop on the hot stone as the director of the Christian- Jewish cemetery said during a television interview.
