Call for participants for Multiplier Training Course “Advanced Project Management”


Dear friends,

We are looking for participants for the Multiplier Training Course, which is organized in the framework of “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” project (YTNF, www.ytnf.org ). The latter is an exciting project aimed to promote innovative activities of young volunteers at grass-root level in three main fields:
 human rights education
 the struggle against racism and xenophobia
 social inclusion of minorities and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds

The project, which is supported financially by the Youth Program of the European Union, will last for three years, started in January 2006. It is taking place in four countries - Russia, Moldova, Ukraine & Belarus - and is managed at local level by SCI groups and partners.

The training course is hosted by SVIT-Ukraine, and will take place in Svyatogorsk, Ukraine, July 7-13, 2008.

The training aims to train PMT members and SCI activists in project management skills, to improve their theoretical knowledge and practical skills; to develop manual on project management of volunteer activities using the materials of the training; to provide space to participants to share best practices and successful examples of managing projects.

The training will take place in the city of Svyatogorsk, Donetsk region, July 7th 13th, in a small town in the middle of National Nature Park, famous for medieval monastery, river and beautiful forests. Working languages will be English and Russian (translation will be provided).

Participants:
Members of Project Management Teams (PMTs) of YTNF project from Russia, Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine, activists of SCI branches interested in the training subject, YTNF project (and who signed support letter for it) and possibilities to organize joint activities on YTNF topics with the PMTs.

All costs concerning meals and accommodation as well as the program and materials will be fully covered for the whole duration of the training. The participation fee for CIS participants is 40 Euros, for EU participants 80 Euros. Travel costs will be reimbursed up to a maximum of:
- 56 Euro for Belarus/NG
- 50 Euro for Moldova/AVI
- 400 Euro for Russia/SCG
- 200 Euro for EU

The program will include the following topics:
 what is a project, its characteristics, life cycle
 project in your organization (its place in organizational planning, influence of organizational culture on the project etc.)
 structuring/developing the project (need, aim and objectives, methodology and activities, time and resources, people, finances, monitoring and evaluation)
 phases of project management
 tasks and characteristics of successful manager
 specific features of partnership projects (local, bilateral and international)

Searching for 600 years old oak-tree We did not find it. We tried, but did not know the way (there even was a map), and we were close. But our other searches resulted with bigger success. We were searching for fresh ideas, experiences and inspiration how to improve long-term volunteer (LTV) and EVS (European Voluntary Service) exchanges in SCI through better prepared hosting projects for LTV during international training “Hosting projects – what we can do”, organized by LTEG working group of SCI and SVIT-Ukraine. The training gathered SCI activists and volunteers from Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Sweden, Moldova, Russia, Finland and Belarus in a small town of Svyatogorsk, Ukraine, March 17-23, 2008. Details...

During the first three months of the new year 2008 we have organized several activities. After a loooooooong vacation during the winter holidays, in February we have organized a mini-workcamp to an asylum for dogs (http://www.ytnf.org/activities6-18_52-.htm) and in March, during the International Day on Global Warming (http://www.ytnf.org/activities6-18_53-.htm) we have participated to a drama training linked to the topic.
