“Hosting Projects - What We Can Do”



We are happy to announce “Hosting Projects - What We Can Do” international training.

The idea of this training seminar was born during LTEG seminar in Finland 2006, and will now be realized with financial support of Youth in Action Program. The training is organized by LTEG in cooperation with SCI International Secretariat and hosted by SVIT-Ukraine, and will take place in Svyatogorsk, Ukraine, from 17.03.2008 till 23.03.2008

Join us in a small town of Svyatogorsk, lost in the forests of National Nature Park, to have 7 exciting days full of learning, interesting discussions and of course fun. The training is open to activists with different experiences in the sphere of LTVing, and interested specifically to focus on different aspects of hosting LTV projects or already active in this field and willing to share knowledge and experiences:
- staff members dealing with EVS exchanges in their organisation - volunteers supporting EVS exchanges in their organisation
- project coordinators of hosting projects - people working with volunteers in hosting projects
- mentors of volunteers - EVS volunteers, who have just completed their voluntary service
- people willing to get active in the fields of EVS exchanges

The training is aimed to:

* promote local and international volunteering as tool for development of local communities and democracy at grass-root level
* to provide participants with knowledge and practical skills on how to find and prepare hosting project and local community, how to integrate volunteer in the local community and stimulate inter cultural exchange
* how to motivate and prepare young people from local community to get involved in volunteer activities and support EVS volunteers
* to discuss experiences of participants from different organizations in Western and Eastern Europe, different types of hosting projects, improve international communication
* to strengthen with knowledge, information, capacities and skills young activists of voluntary service organizations for promotion of volunteering and its role in community life on example of EVS exchanges
* to improve Youth in Action program activities and quality of EVS exchanges through developing guidelines for hosting projects based in best-practice examples, how to support hosting projects within EVS exchange, responsibilities of hosting projects and hosting organization, communication and cooperation, practical aspects of finding and preparing hosting projects

The draft program is available upon request.

We expect from the participants - to be active in SCI branch, group or partner organization - to work on hosting LTV projects - to be able to work in English - participate to the whole program of the event.

Financial conditions for participants (the countries mentioned will have priority for participation. Other natinalities are also welcome to apply):

70% reimbursement of travel costs based on the most economical means of transport, with the following maximum:

- 300 Euro for SCI Germany

- 450 Euro for VIA Netherlands

- 400 Euro for KVT Finland, Slovenia

- 70 Euro for AVI Moldova

- 500 Euro for SCG Russia

- 600 Euro for IAL Sweden

- 60 Euro for NG Belarus

- 50 Euro for SVIT-Ukraine and Alternative-Ukraine

- 350 Euro for CVS Bulgaria and OWA Poland

Visa costs will be reimbursed up to maximum 40 Euro. Participation fee for LTEG members and applicants from CIS countries – 25 Euro, for non-LTEG members from EU – 45 Euro.

You will be informed about the definite acceptance (or refusal) of the applications as soon as possible after this deadline.

Overcast weather and feeling sleepy due to it, being late and out of coffee. Probably not the best start for a successful meeting. But we had it. On the February week-end of 2 and 3 a group of activists met in Kharkiv to discuss what is happening in SVIT in the coming months, plan upcoming activities like YTNF film festival and training on project management, take a look at new SVIT web-site and decide about its future update and new features. Representatives of partner organizations “Pechenegy” and “Friends of Gomolshansky forest” joined part of the meeting. Details...
