Work will hopefully commence in January 2007 to establish two new Coordinating Centres for the Promotion of Long-Term Volunteering(LTV) in Ukraine & Moldova under the aegis of SVIT and AVI. The main aim of the new Centres is to facilitate the creation of up to ten new volunteer posts for foreign volunteers in Moldova and Ukraine  by the end of 2008, as well as to train a pool of multiipliers in each country who will be responsible for implementing future LTV programs, also involving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Chisinau, November 12th 2006, 18.04 The training took place at 11th of November, at AVI-Moldova’s office. It was facilitated by Alina Dabija, YTNF volunteer. The target group of the training where YTNF volunteers. During the 3 hours of the training, the participants where familiarized with the steps that should be taken in order to organize a Press Conference, to write a Press Release or a Newsletter. On 26th October it was announced that the German jury of the UN Decade on sustainable development has voted to designate SCI Germany as an "Official UN Decade Project". The official presentation of the award will be held on 29th November during the third UN Round Table of the UN decade "Education for Sustainable Development". Details...

In October & November 10 new LTVs from Poland, Germany, Sweden, Slovakia & the Czech Republic are starting their 10-month voluntary service in Russia, Moldova and Ukraine in the frame of "Capacity Building Stage X", which is financially supported by the European Voluntary Service Programme of the EU. All the volunteers are being encouraged to actively participate in the PMT activities planned in each country. On a nice autumn day of October 8th SVIT PMT members and some volunteers met in Kharkov to discuss completed activities in Ukraine, project development in general, and make plans for the future. We started with memories, what has happened from the beginning of the project, who did what and went where, how it was and what happened afterwards. The purpose was not just to refresh some nice memories, but also to get new volunteers informed and familiar with the project through the international glasses. Details...
