Funding for our large-scale project “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” effectively stopped on 30th November 2008 and the project was officially concluded with a Final Conference in Ukraine. Currently, all partners are now involved in preparing all narrative & financial documents for the final report, which is quite a time-consuming task for all concerned.
At the same time, however, the Project Management Teams established during the course of YTNF have vowed to continue their work and you will be able to read about their activities as usual on this web page during the coming months.
How, and in which way, the YTNF concept might be further developed in the future is still “up in the stars”, but you can rest assured that we will be doing our utmost in the near and long-term future in order not to lose the vast knowledge, skills and know-how that were developed during the course of YTNF I, but instead to build on what has been achieved, and help further promote the capacity building of international voluntary organisations in Central & Eastern Europe as a whole.
In this sense we would be interested to hear from any potential funding agency or foundation(s) who may be ready & willing to invest resources in supporting a possible YTNF-Stage II follow-up project – probably related to the concept of Active European Citizenship - , in which case we would certainly be able to provide details of what we have in the pipeline.
At this point, however, it remains only for me, on behalf of all partners in our project, to express our deepest gratitude to the main actors involved in making YTNF I such a huge success thru their massive contributions, in the first place
• All volunteers from Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova & Russia for their long-term commitment, innovative ideas, hard work and humour throughout the project
• All regional managers – Julia Myasyshcheva (Ukraine), Lada H. (Belarus), Victoria Badueva (Russia), Cezar Cerny & Rodica Negru (Moldova), who stuck to their tasks with the utmost dedication, professionalism and idealism
• Our main funders, the European Union, Brussels, for the trust placed in our organisations, and their willingness to provide long-term, lasting financial support
• Other institutions, in particular the Council of Europe, Strasbourg and the Foundation for Remembrance, Responsibility and Future, Berlin, who provided us with the bulk of the additional funding required for implementing our project
• Our chief consultant from OWA Poland, Milosz Czierniejewski, for his usual foresight & wise advice on many different occasions
• All our committed trainers & prepteams, who facilitated such fantastic framework seminars & evaluations
• The International Steering Group for managing the whole project
• All the participating organisations, and those behind, who took the decision to embark on this exciting venture and provided valuable logistical and technical support
• Our webpage designer, Corneliu, from Moldova
• Last not least, all SCI branches, groups & partners and the IEC, who sent participants to our various events and who supported our project from a distance.
Amities,
John Myers
