HUMAN RIGHTS TRAVELLER
From August 3rd to August 20th a small group of 7 volunteers from Ireland, Italy, Belgium, USA and Ukraine will travel through Donetsk and Kharkiv regions with a special mission - they will be telling young people about human rights.

The group will start in Artemovsk with two-days training on human rights, and preparation of workshops. The leaders of the project, Victoria Kopchak and Natalie Dorosh, have identified the following topic to focus on - access to information (information in the media and Internet, censorship - maybe we still do need it sometimes).

This topic offers a broad space for discussion. Ukraine's sometimes controversial legislation offers interesting examples, for instance
- every person has a right to keep information on its health private
- but people should know everything about the country political head, including his/her health. The president of Ukraine was poisoned during presidential election campaign - does he have a right to keep infromation about his health private?

Other aspects related to access to information we'd like to discuss are

- rights of patients to know everything about their diagnosis, situation with euthanasia in different countries
- right for fair court (death penalty and mistakes in court decisions, what mechanisms are available to protect people's rights in different countries).

The group will visit three international volunteer projects in Ukraine and organize workshops and discussions with participants.
