A fabulous circus show organized by PMT for orphans on 15th February

“Les Frères Kazamaroffs” - a French family of circus artists came to Ulan-Ude in September 2007. Since then the father, Gérard Clarté, has been teaching juggling at the East Siberian Academy Culture and Art. Their stay in Buryatia is part of their 1 year tour in Eurasia. They left France in June 2007 and travelled through Romania, Hungary, Serbia, and Ukraine. The Filip family consists of 6 persons: father Gerard, mother Corinne, and 4 kids: Sylene (11), Amina (9), Imre (6) and Angel (2). In April they are planning to leave for Mongolia where they will be travelling across the country giving circus shows and carrying out cultural exchange.

SCG decided that their stay in Buryatia gives us a wonderful chance to promote ideas of peace and intercultural understanding by organizing circus shows in various settings. The first show was given at the orphanage where we usually organize extracurricular activities with the kids (play with them and have fun).

The hall was full with excited children who saw a real circus show for the 1st time in their life! But not only kids were fascinated with the show – all present persons including PMT and teachers were watching the stage with their eyes wide open! The circus family was juggling with balls, sticks and Chinese plates, dancing, singing, and playing different musical instruments: violins, trombone, and alt. Surely the children will never forget this beautiful show that introduced them for the very first time to the ancient and young art of the European circus.

The next circus show is planned for 3rd March in the orphanage “Malyshok” - a volunteer post of Tina and Deborah – our EVS volunteers from Germany. Joint projects by PMT and “Les Frères Kazamaroffs” in the field of promotion of intercultural understanding and social inclusion are in sight!
